Internet Safety and Next Generation EU Funded Project

As part of our online safety teaching here in St Mary’s we use age-appropriate Webwise resources. Webwise is the Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre. It is funded by the Department of Education and co-funded by the European Union. It promotes safer and better internet use. Its education initiatives target teachers, children, young people and parents. It also provides information, advice and tools to parents to support their engagement in their children’s online lives. Further information about Webwise can be found on their website www.webwise.ie

From time to time we also hire specialist internet safety experts to deliver interactive programmes and talks to students, teachers and parents with a view to keeping students safe online.

St Mary.s  received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase two sets of beebots and chromebooks . These are invaluable to our school and we are very grateful for them .
